Cub Trekking

It‘s like hiking but with an airplane! – unlimited adventure!

In May 2014, Tobias had a dream to build his own airplane that started when he was on a flying adventure in Alaska.  Then he thought, why not build it and then flying it from Deadhorse, Alaska to Ushuaia, Argentina, basically a Pan-American fly trip.  The rest of 2014 was spent deciding which model to buy and 2015 was spent deciding which configuration, i.e. long range fuel tanks, extended baggage, which landing gear, which instrument panel, etc.

In February 2016, he made the single most expensive purchase of his life and bought a CubCrafter Carbon Cub EX-2 Kit. The plane was delivered in July of 2016 and the project started right away.

In the summer of 2019, the bush pilot dream machine got all the required certification to fly off and heading to Oshkosh. Tobias won the Lindbergh award for best kit built airplane!

The Carbon Cub  EX-2 is lovely named Pocahontas. With many adventures already logged in the USA and Canada by flying and camping, it is now time to accomplish Tobias‘s dream to fly along the Andes with his self built Carbon Cub. The South America Journey is happening right now!
